Busy Girl

IMG_0687

Well, not really. Just enjoying my summer freedom before getting a job. I have discovered silk scarves in second hand stores this week. I want to start making them into fabulous halter tops and have started working on a pattern. Being second hand they are eco-friendly, elegant and make one-of-a-kind. The minor thought is, I can talk to buyers at the boutique along the beaches in Toronto and see if there is any interest in garments like these. Business is my forte so why not try? It is important to try and experience everything, I don't want to look back on my life and regret a lot, I already have some and I'm only 22! Better things to come.

Ah, it feels good to be home, especially after a long 8 hour plane flight when you really don't like flying. Right now it really feels like I wasn't there at all, it was really surreal to be in Paris and walking around famous monuments only to be dropped back here 5 days later. There wasn't enough time for it to all sink in and for me to say "ah yes, this is Paris". It was a brisk stay but it was wonderful! I saw everything you are supposed to see but also went wandering to enjoy all the things that locals do. When I vacation I like to see the sites but also like to experience what the locals do, like buying $2.80 euor sandwiches at the grocery store as opposed to the same ones for $7.00euros at local sandwich shops or hanging out at McDonalds until 1:30am for the free internet service. Oh, and also having beer as an option for the drink on my McDonalds meal!
My internal clock is all screwed up at the moment which is why I am blogging at 5:30 in the morning. I got home at 1:10, fell asleep at 3:00pm and woke up at 3:00am. I was just getting adjusted to Paris time and now I have flipped time zones again. I'm pretty sure my body is hating me right now...
I have a video I want to post, but will figure out how to blog it later. night/morning!

Blazers

Lately I have had a thing for blazer as I have seen them repeatedly on different blogs, and reaalized how versatile they can be. I think that they are the perfect topper on an outfit. Outfits just seem more complete when you add a blazer; like this drool-worthy Ralph Lauren blazer worn by Blake Lively,

blake

Karla

or this mint green number worn by Karla from Karlascloset. It just adds a whisper of professionalism and more interest to an otherwise plain outfit. But blazers can also be just a fun accessory as seen on Rachel Bilson who adds blazers and fitted jackets to her outfits quite often. I have been looking for new ones to add to my wardrobe. I would love to find some nice vintage ones, but haven't been that lucky so far.

As promised, here is the maxi dress I made this past weekend. I wish that I could bring my sewing machine up here with me, but I need a place of my own first. Going out for dinner with le bf! Paris 4 days!

Like a Whirl Wind

IMG_0276

IMG_0267

Today is so windy! I had plans of walking to the store and to the bakery, but I get frustrated when the wind blows my hair violently each way. I will just have to drive. Well I'm back in the Saug and have high-speed again! I am kind of tired of living out of a suitcase and having the ritual of the unemployeed. When you first think about a day where you do not have to do anything, it sounds really appealing...but I've found that I would rather be working and really busy than not have anything to do all day. I want a career where I am really busy day and night but it is at something that I am passionate about..like art or fashion.

I will post pictures of the new dress I made tomorrow hopefully. I need le bf to take the pictures outside, and he didn't get home till 8:30 last night. 8:30 = no sun outside. It was supposed to be my post today, but I'll jut keep you all in suspense till tomorrow. Paris in 5 days!

In Kingston On Dial-Up

Hello all, I arrived home to Kingston at 8:00pm on Thursday after spending hours in Toronto traffic. I left downtown at 4:16....you can do the math. It took a long time. I have been lazing around, bought some new fabric yesterday that is a stretchy zebra print, and I am planning on making it into a maxi dress. I am leaving for the Sauga tomorrow so need to try and get the dress done tonight. I want to take it to Paris with me! I leave next Tuesday, it is so exciting! If anyone has been, could you tell me what things are a MUST SEE? So excited! Post pics tomorrow when back on high speed!

Day 11

I went a little bit Marylin Monroe today with my white halter dress, but I still feel naked showing too much skin. To solve that problem I covered it up with a blazer. I always feel this way in early summer. I'm so used to being covered head to toe in winter clothing that wearing clothing that shows skin feels weird for a while when the weather gets warm.

My tasks for the day are job hunting, going to the bead store and Wii fitting. I have just discovered the Wii fit and think it is alright for a light workout. It is definitely not for major toning or aerobics, but good for those who do not go to the gym or are not very active. It will get your muscles shaking after a good half hour. On to the day...

Lazy Sundays

100_4850

Today was a fun Sunday. le bf and I went for a walk, had some pho for lunch, browsed some shops then stumbled upon a fancy little pub where they had mini pitchers! They are only $6 and hold 2 pints of beer in each. One pint is 6$ so you might as well get the pitcher. It is the most inexpensive beer I have found between Ottawa and Toronto. Also, Rickards white is now one of my favourite beers. I love the citrus flavour.

Just watched a cartoon movie with le bf called Iron Giant. I never go out of my way to see a cartoon movie in theatres, but watching it at home for free is alright. Bed time, off to Paris in 15 days!

Mississauga is Temporary Home

100_4846

I have spent the last 3 days in Toronto and am now back in Sauga with le bf who introduced me to something deadly today. He showed me that a 5 minute drive from his place there is an outlet center. Not a mall, but box stores. I only went to H&M and Winners today because I am trying to save money for France. (By the by, I'm leaving for Paris in 17 days!) I had to debate what to purchase, and decided on this long white pleated tunic dress. I thought it was sweet. I know I promised better pictures, but I didn't like any of the ones le bf took.
If you haven't been to H&M lately, I suggest you go! There are so many things I fell in love with. I usually don't find much I like, but I would have bought the whole store today. I know where I will be spending a majority of my time when I get a job. I will be the best dressed whatever I become :)
I had another interview yesterday for Dolce Vita magazine. I was extremely excited when they called, until they said it was for a sales job. Sales is my least favourite area of marketing. I applied to Dolce to do articles on beauty, fashion or travel not really sales. So anyway, I will see what they say. It was only a preliminary interview, so there is no job offer, they are just keeping my no file in case something opens up.
(H&M tunic dress: $39.90)
