Living The Fantasy

Paris Hilton has a new perfume ad out for her new fragrance called Siren where she has posed as a mermaid. This new print ad fits right in with the others that are increasingly fantasy based. For her first and most realistic perfume ad called Just Me, Paris was conservative and projected the image she lives daily, a seductive and untouchable heiress. It was sweet, simple and got the message across perfectly, it is just her the celebutant. She looks a lot like her mom in this picture as well.
Then, taking the creative reigns, she launched Can Can and debuted herself as a can-can dancer. This image was more fun, less serious and allowed her to play a character that was not herself. At this point Paris seemed to see the limits of advertising melt away. From this point she went from playing a realistic character to entering the world of fantasy with her next perfume, Fairy Dust...also entering the world of photoshop and airbrushing.

This ad marks the start of Paris living the childhood dreams of most girls by playing a fairy and later a mermaid. I know I dreamed of being a fairy and went out as one for Halloween on more than one occassion. I think the most retouched ad of all these has to be the new one for Siren. While flipping through People magazine the other day I came across the new ad. I knew who it was supposed to be because it resembled her, but I was a little taken aback by how much I didn't think the face looked like Paris.

If you haven't seen the ad, here it is.
Do you think it looks like her? The ad is very beautiful and appealing to look at, but after looking at the mermaids face for a minute, I begin to lose what Paris looks like.

Starbucks and Starbucks

well, I had the longest coffee ever with a friend I haven't seen in 1.5 years! Isn't it crazy how you can go so long without seeing someone, but after a few minutes you are right where you left off all that time ago. It was great. We are going to make this a weekly thing while we are in the same city, so tomorrow we are going to see either Inglorious Bastards or District 9 or both if we can be sneaky :)

I made this skirt last week and I'm in love with it. I just need something important to wear it to! The pattern is so simple that I could alter it to have a V front which I've seen around and love but could not find a good picture to show.

Multiply

I saw the multi-strand wooden bead necklace look a while before the cover of InStyle came out with Michelle Pffiffer donning the piece. I was watching an episode of Diva On A Dime of all shows and they made one. If you have not heard of Diva On A Dime, it is this little low budget show with the same host that also does InFashion on another channel. Anyway, the whole show is centered around taking a runway look and recreating this look through more ingenuity and bargain shopping. Long story short, they made this multi-strand wooden beaded necklace for $25 by buying one of those beaded curtains you hang over a door frame, spraying it red and making it into a necklace. It was awesome!
If you had a plane dress on and wanted to make it very non-fuss you could wear this necklace as its only accessory. I'm a fan of the chunky beads that Michelle has on compared to the ones in the picture above.
Are you liking this look for fall? How would you wear them?

Don't Be Silly

Today is really dreary, but that is over shadowed by my exciting news! I have been recruited again to do costumes for a film a friend of mine is producing! Except this time, instead of being Costume Coordinator, I actually get to design and create the pieces with the title of Costume Designer! This film will be a full feature and will be shot next summer. Tell you more about my involvement in the coming year.
Off to see a friend in a bit so we can plan our Vegas or New York trip! Haven't decided which one yet.
I am really liking the pink/grey combination as you can see from my last few posts. I also fell in love with this skirt! I have been looking for one that has the right amount of puff to it. I just hate to take it apart and make a pattern out of it though.

Cottage Party

As promised, here are some pictures from the cottage festivities. We had 24 people there, but I only took pictures from the day after everyone but the few of us left.

My Bloody Valentine

I have come across the neatest thing. We all know that studs are going to be huge soon, especially the pyramid stud which can be mostly attributed to the late Michael Jackson and his love of them. So instead of buying items with them on which can be expensive when something has come into style, it is much more cost effective, fun and personal to do it ourself! Courtesy of the After Show's Doop site, here is the address for a site where you can purchase studs at a decent price, even in bulk! The site is StudsandSpikes.com

Although I love the belt I am wearing in these photos, I did not make it. It is part of a skirt I bought last week at H&M. So excited for this weekend as I said before, it is my family get together and le bf is coming down! I love having the whole family together.

Dancing in the Streets

Well I had a great weekend at the cottage. Very relaxing! I forgot to add te shoes I was wearing to my last post. These were another b-day present, I picked them out on our trip to Syracuse last week. I love ballet flats, almost too much maybe...I have a lot of them!
When I get home from Starbucks I am going to apply to an upholstery place for a job! it wouldn't be permanent, but my reasoning is this: 1. if I'm currently not doing anything, and 2. I am looking for something to do, shouldn't I do something to entertain myself and 3. make a little mony? Oh, and I have always wanted to know how to upholster furniture properly. It would be amazing to be able to redo your own couch your self...and much cheaper!

Yesterday was a great birthday with my family. We went to Utica and Syracuse for some beer and shopping therapy. If you are ever in the Utica area, be sure to stop into the Utica Club Brewery. A tour is $5, and you get 2 free beer at the end, plus one beer per correct answer you give on the tour. I am sure everyone on this blog has been to the Carousel Mall in Syracuse. If not, it is a must. It has all of the store you would want to shop at on one mall ranging from Forever21 and H&M to Macy's. The best part? We got through the border with lots of stuff and didn't need to pay duty!
The shoes here were one of my birthday presents. I love Steve Maddens!

It Is Finally Here!

It was June when I had my graduation ceremony. I got all the little things that were there and being sold that made the day memorable and special. I kept the pamphlets, the school book, I got the school frame to put my diploma in and also ordered an engraved school ring. Well after over one and a half months of waiting, it arrived this morning! Here it is:
There are 7 engraved pictures on the outdise, and on the inside it says B.Comm, 2009, KG. I wish it had the month and day but there wasn't room to put all of that. Also, the ring box that it came in was a surprise and very fitting.

Weekend

I have been busy this weekend with le bf, b-day shopping for myself on his behalf and a b-day party for a friend yesterday. I am a really picky person when it comes to shopping and people find it almost impossible to buy me presents, so le bf decided to take me shopping to find something I would like and not want to return :) Sad I know, but true. Happy b-day to me this Wednesday!!
