It'sAll Over

Well, the Olympics comes to a close today, and I can finally peel myself away from the TV. All that is left is the men's Canada vs. USA gold medal hockey game to come later tonight. If Canada wins this gold medal, we will have beaten the record of the most gold medals received during the Olympics...no pressure guys!

I have to say, Canada did so much better than I ever thought we would. In the middle of the games when our skiers were falling and bob sleds tipping over, I have to say I didn't have much hope for a high medal count. However, tonight I will be glued to the TV set watching that final gold medal game and cheering on my country. I believe we can win that final gold medal! If not, I am so proud of our atheletes, especially Joannie Rochette who could have easily and understandibly dropped out of the competition after the death of her mother. But the one person I am most happy for is our curling team. Martin has been on that team for 20 years and finally has won that ellusive gold medal! Way to go team!

Go Canada Go!

I haven't been blogging much lately because I have been glued to my TV set watching the Olympics for the past 8 days. I am very surprised at this because I have never watched any Olympic coverage from any other Olympic games. I think the difference this year is the fact that it is being held here in Canada. I didn't even consider going out to Vancouver for the Olympics because I was against the extravagance and didn't think I would even watch any of it. Now I would kill to be out there. I wish I had volunteered to work in the athletes village. It looks like it would have been a blast! The energy and excitement that I see on TV is incredible and something I definitely wish I was a part of.

Mourning McQueen

I like everyone else I'm sure am shocked at the news of Alexander McQueen's death. This comes after the death of his mother last week and a string of upset Twitter posts. He committed suicide and was found in his luxury apartment. He was my favourite designer and I am very sad that he is gone. I just can't believe that he will no longer be creating, he was such an individual and real talent. It makes me sad that we won't get to see what else he could do. Here are some designs from my favourite collections.

Hoppy-ness is

I was attending an antique show this past Sunday and stumbled on something fabulous. I did not know that you could get vintage and estate jewelry in the shape of animals, encrusted with diamonds and other semi-precious stones. I have never seen anything like them before and must share! The one that I fell for was a small dialmond and green garnet frog ring. The company does not have a website, but I have found some other rings very similar to what they sell.

Michael Kors

It feels like it has been a long time since I have chatted with anyone through blogging, but in reality it has only been a couple of days. Things have been picking up speed in my life recently. I am now working on the publicity for an arts cause as well as doing some social media interning for a brand new company that will be arriving in Kingston soon. Hence, I have been busy doing a lot of marketing related research and strategizing :) In my spare time I have been hitting the gym pretty hard. I used to go almost every morning during my last year of university, but stopped after moving out of Ottawa. It feels great to be back at it!
I ventured to the States (again) last week and all I brought back was a pair of jeans. However, they were a happy purchase, and my first Michael Kors piece! I'm not a big fan of Michael's clothing usually because it is so safe, but the jeans fit swimmingly.

Marc Jacobs Contest

Do I have the best post ever! Marc Jacobs president, Robert Duffy just started Tweeting last week and boy has he been busy! He has recently offered up the chance to WIN TICKETS to the MARC JACOBS FASHION WEEK SHOW. Although the Tweet has recently been taken down, the offer is still available on the marc jacobs website, you can go on and register by clicking here.

I don't have the most recent downloaded version of Adobe Flash so I couldn't view it. Make sure you sign up! It would be an amazing opportunity.
HOWEVER, if you don't win, which 99% of us won't, don't despare!! Marc's 2010 show will stream live on his website on Feb 15 @ 8pm EST. So no matter what, you can be apart of the festivities.
If you have the money, you be 100% sure that you have a fashion week experience! Marchesa founder Georgina Chapman is auctioning off a once-in-a-life time fashion week package, which includes a Marchesa gown. The package includes 2 VIP tickets to her New York fashion week show on Feb 17, and the opportunity to meet her. An addition to the package is a private tour of the Marchesa deisgn studio after the show to pick out a couture dress from the new collection. Marchesa is probably my second favoutire brand and I am thrilled that they are donating the proceeds to charity.
