This blog has meant a lot to me, and so has the support of everyone who has read it. I am planning on returning to posting soon. I am enjoying my new found hobby of wire wrapping :) I've been watching tutorials and doing a lot of practice to try and get a bit better at it. This is a turquoise piece of agate that I have wrapped with silver wire.

Why is it so hard to find consistency and stability in another? I believe that when you meet someone for the first time, they are on their best behaviour because they are trying to impress. But after knowing them for a while, their true self starts to show its colours and it is never what you thought it was. Why are people like that? (small disappointment of the day).

My weekend was spent at the cottage; it was devine. I am well rested and more tan, both of these outcomes are always welcome.

When I got back to civilization, I became restless and decided to start and hopefully finish my wire wrapping project. I am hapy to show you all the end result! I am actually quite pleased and will be happy to wear this piece. I made sure that the back was quite tight so the stone can't escape. It was a bit too loose last attempt.

If I told you what went on this week/weekend I don't think you would believe me. I hardly even believe the luck that my family is having lately. I don't think I have been more scuffed and bruised or required more bandages form playing a sport. Doctors don't do anything for concussions do they?

Anyway, I went shopping today just to get out. I feel like I haven't done some good ol' retail therapy for a long while, but got my fix today. I got a couple pieces that will help me make 4 new outfits for work/play. Here are my purchases of the day:

looove this dress. It is a bit short, so I'm going to wear it with some black leggings that I picked up at H&M the last time I was there. The print is really interesting; it changes as you go across the dress, but it is all one continuous fabric.

I fell for the details on this shirt. the arms and rope around it are great.

This skirt had some great detail on it as well. I always like getting clothing that has some sort of visual interest so that it is a special piece on it's own.

Holly has it been a busy 2 weeks!!! I have been to a Bachelorette, a 4 day long wedding and other lesser but still busying events. It has finally all come to an end and I can start my summer with my own schedule. I wanted to share a few pictures from the wedding weekend with you all.

Hello all. I have been really busy getting ready for my good friends wedding, in which I am a brides maid. This past weekend the bridal party made the trek to Niagara Falls for a bachelorette party! We fit so much stuff into one day, it was ridiculous.

We went on the Maid of the Mist which I hadn't done before, Margaritaville, Dragonfly club, Pepper Mints (lol) and gambling. We got in at 4:00am,got up at 8:30 and left at 10:30am. Very short yet very long weekend.

Starting Anew

My world was shaken this past week, but it wasn't anything that time can't fix. Just a lot of emotions and memories that need to be erased, which wil happen eventually. They say that life is full of lessons, and I am still wondering what I should have learned from this, but it has made me wiser and more aware of those I choose to surround myself with, and I believe this experience will make me a stronger person in the long run.

Anyway! More interesting news, I now have more time which is a good thing, because I have so much to share with you all! I have acquired many things in the past couple weekends.

Montreal Victoria Weened

I spent about a week planning things to do in Montreal for this past Vicroria Day long weekend, and of my list we probably did 3 things, and even those were the most unplanned plans I have ever done on a vacation. I am not someone who is spontaneous on a holiday, getting lost is not fun to me :) I am used to the Chevy Chase vacations that my dad used to take us on where we would be going from one attraction to another. Vegas to the Grand Canyon to Hoover Dam to Meteor Crator to Death Valley...all in a couple days. That is what I'm used to, but trips are about compromise in what you are going to do.

I managed to forget my camera in the hotelroom for most of the first day, but definitely made sure I had it the second day.

I just finished a 3 day upholstery workshop and it was amazing! I learn so much in those 3 days that I am planning on taking the whole 7 level course.

All I need to do now is refinish the arms and screw them back on! It is going to look amazing!

Shopping State Side

My excuse for a girls road and shopping trip turned into a 12 hour shopping marathon! My friend and I spend about 9 hours at the Carousel Mall in Syracuse. Yesterday was the first day that I bought a dress I wasn't completely enamoured with. Usually I only buy pieces that I love at first site on myself, but yesterday I broke my rule. I wore my new dress to work today, and got a few compliments, but am still not sure about it. I will post that one seen :)

I fell for this ring the moment I saw it! It reminds me of a pattern you would see in a church on the confession booths. Very ornate and gothic.

I bought this as a kick-around dress for the summer. It will be cool and comfy for those really hot summer days that we always get.

I liked the pattern on this dress, but it was made of polyester and wouldn't stop clinging to my legs. Sorry about the blur, it looked clear on my little camera screen!

I almost made it to work today with my curls intact. If you live in Southern Canada of the States you know what I'm talking about. The winds and rain were up to 90km/h today. I was walking to work very carefully and I almost made it to the door when the wind decided to turn my umbrella inside out, and the rain straightened my hair in one big gust. Glad I didn't have plans after work, I was only off to the gym :)

I hope you are all safe and didn't get caught up in any of the storms that went on across the Southern States.

Our weekend travels took us to Perth and Merrickville last Sunday, which are very crafty areas here in Ontario. We visited boutiques, arts stores and a particularly interesting glass blowers shop where I bought the following necklace. I chatted with the shop keeper who makes the necklaces. It was interesting to hear that any piece of art in the shop that has been there for 4 months gets smashed and turned into necklaces. I wonder what this used to be :)

I have been wanting to share these with you all for a while. they are my new babies! How i got them is a great story I think :) I went into the Felicity&Fritz boutique downtown on a Saturday just to browse and try on some shoes. They were having a 40% off boots sale, so that was my target, to look for a pair of boots. I have been looking for the perfect pair for 4 years now. I tried on the pair below and they were the last pair of that style in the store and in my size! I really liked them, but I didn't think I loved the $200 worth, so I left. I had been thinking about them my whole week at work, and on Friday after work I decided to walk back to the store not expecting to see the boots ever again. Well they were there still on the shelf. I tried them on a second time and did a little strut around the boutique. I talked to the owner about them and how I had been in a week earlier. I told her that I just couldn't do it. She hummed, and asked if she knowcked $50 off, would that make a difference? I said YES! and bought them for 50$ off the before tax price! My amazing distressed leather boots that are designed and made by a leather company call MARC in Germany are now in my closet :)

I love how the leather comes down over the heel of the boot. MARC $147.

I have been on death's door for the past week, and am only just starting to feel better. I am excited to be making my triumphant return to work after taking all of last week off. I wish I had a great story or did something neat on my week off, but sleeping for 16 hours a day felt sooo good. I'm hoping to post my new boots and a couple outfits this week for you all! I have been a bad little blogger. I have allowed my life and busy schedule to get in the way of my blog. I admire everyone that works full-time, goes to the gym and has many after-work commitments that keeps up with their blogs. The laziness must end! I just got some stunning new boots which I want to show you all. They are by Marc, a Germany leather goods company, and I am enamored with them. I have been looking for boots for over 4 years and these ones are a good start :) They are amazing quality, totally leather and beautiful. I will share them soon!!

I am going to be a brides maid for the first time ever this coming summer, and I am extremely excited about it! I am always up for a good party, and weddings usually are the creme of the crop. A roommate of mine from University is also a bridesmaid in this wedding, so we both made a trip to the US of A this past Saturday to order our dresses. We turned this into a shopping trip where we hit the Carousel Mall, Khol's, Olies, Home Goods, and Marshall's. Those who know me know that I am obsessed with house decore accessories. Hello all! I hope you have had a wonderful holidays so far; I know I have! These are some new items that I got for Christmas, although you have seen the shoes before. This is my first pair of regular skinny jeans. I feel that skinny jeans shouldn't be worn by anyone with curves, including me, because they emphasize the hips, but my sweater and the added heel height balances this out pretty well. I think this will be a future Friday casual outfit for work :)

I was thrilled to receive a pair of Coach leather gloves from my brother this Christmas. I will share those beauties soon.

I am finally getting into the Christmas spirit. I did my first bit of Christmas shopping today and am ready to go back out tomorrow. I normally would have started earlier, but I have been drawing a blank on what to get people this year. What do you buy people that have everything? But I guess they are probably thinking the same thing about me lol.

I was downtown in the cold for a lot of today, so I'm glad to be bundled-up and ttoasty here in my room. I had a great 2 days with friends, but am looking forward to a gym date and shopping solo tomorrow. When I shop with others, I always feel pressured to move quicker. Hello all! Well it is the weekend yet again. This week has just flown by for me...I couldn't believe that the last time I posted was 6 days ago. My work life has kept me happily busy, and because I'm happy, I have been losing weight. I'm the type of person that eats when they are unhappy, but now I am getting back to the size I was 2 years ago. The onlydownside is that I have a whole new work wardrobe that is starting to get pretty loose. My skirts just don' nip in far enough at the waist anymore.

I love my 70's inspired ruffled blouse in these pictures. They were the only photos I could get before the batteries ran out in my camera. Will charge and do more!

Kids Who Wear the Crowns

I went shopping States side today, which I love to do. Because I was by myself, I only shopped in Watertown, at the SalmonRun mall, Kohl's and Target. I didn't find as many deals as I was expecting, however, I did enjoy the low tax rate. On my $44 dress, I paid just over $1 in taxes. I think that is awesome.

I didn't buy much, but as usually, I made sure I loved what I got. I was so close to buying a Calvin Klein dress today. but found the one below that I liked more. If I hesitate over a piece of clothing, I immediately put it back. When I go shopping, I doing buy anything I don't immediately love when I try it on. I have always found that those purchases have been a waste of money because I don't wear them.

I also bount my first pair of wearable wedges and I am sold. They are so supportive, I want more!

My original intention when shopping was mainly to get 1.5-2" high heeled shoes for work, and possibly some tops and maybe a pair of pants for fall. I ended up being draw to all sorts of skirts and dresses. I did get a pair of shoes, but also got a dress of all things. The season is changing, and I but a dress...smart. I am also looking for the perfect sweater dress right now.

I love going to work where there are lots of friendly/funny people...but then I have to come home to an empty house. Kind of depressing; however! tomorrow is my spa day, I will be relaxing with a massage after work. Saturday I will be buzzing off to the states alone because le boyf has better things to do with his day. But shopping alone is always better anyway, le bf's never give you a straight opinion!

As promised, here are a couple new photos. The one flaw that I have found in many places I have lived over the past 5 years is a lack of closet space; There never seems to be enough! Luckily, since I am living at home, I get 2 whole double closets! They are pretty jam-packed, but I think they should be the limit on how much clothing I should have...I am going to have to adopt my brothers philosophy of "buy a new item, get rid of an old one."

I also plan on doing some what-I-wore-to-work posts in the near future; I am absolutely obsessed with work clothes. I always have been, and I am currently planning a trip to the States for some dad b-day present shopping and work attire. I am planning buying my dad a charcoal bbq for his b-day...would that be a good gift?

This tank is one of my all time favoutire shirts! It looks so fancy under a sweater of blazer. Tip: if you are looking for classy items or amazing classic pieces, take a look around older women's stores like Cleo or Melanie Lym. They always have great basics.

Next week when I get paid, I am splurging on a massage and pedicure! Any advice on what kind of massage I should get? I haven't had a hot rock one yet.

I have really been noticing lately that I am knowing fewer and fewer people in the celebrity magazines. Where are all these random young people coming from? Oh God, I just said 'young people'...I feel so old right now....I think it all started with the Jonas Brothers for me; that is when I stopped caring about random young celeb crazes. However, it might also be because I don't watch vampire shows...Is anyone else having this problem -if you can really call that a problem - or is it just me?

New Camera Fun

Happy Wednesday everyone! I spent most of this afternoon down at a new little coffee shop in Kingston called the Mug & Truffle. It has great coffee, free wifi and a bonus courtyard outback. My bestfriend and I visited it for the first time the other day, and I am smitten. I will definitely start going there over Starbucks...the only downside to it is that it is pretty far away from where I live.

Anyway, we were playing around with my new camera the other day, and I thought I would share some pictures. Have a good one!

Can Inexpensive Be Great?

When it comes to shoes, you can love them and hate them; they can make your outfit, but just as easily ruin your night. I can name several a-night where I have hobbled home on blistered feet.

So when it comes to shoes, are you of the opinion that you get what you pay for, or do you believe that an inexpensive shoe can be a great one?

In my experience, I think I have had the whole range! Expensive shoes can be just as painful as a very cheaply made inexpensive pair. However, my go-to-shoes at the moment are ones that were priced at $30...and they look and feel fabulous!

But I'm pretty sure everyone has a pair of those shoes that feel like they are torturing your feet. No matter how you walk in them, they are trying to hurt you; scrubbing your heels no matter how hard you shove your toes to the end. Those shoes that you feel have great potential, and if you just wear them enough, you will be able to break them into the perfect shoes. You give them chance after chance but they end up disappointing you time after time and leave you in pain. My worst right now are a pair of Steve Maddens. I love love love them, but they really pinch a nerve in my left foot. So, even though I know they are no good for me, I can't seem to throw in the shoe polish; they mean too much to me...even though the pain seems to outweigh the benefit, I can't seem to part with them. Bunny Hugger

Last night while looking for places in the area to volunteer, I came across an opportunity on the Humane Society's website. Did you know that you can sign up to be a Bunny Hugger? This entails socializing and exercising rabbits, ginea pigs and rats. This kind of volunteering seems almost too good to be true. I think it would be nice to try and make the time that the animals spend at the shelter as pleasant as possible.

Some of my longer followers will remember the love of my life; Kiwi who died last year.

At the shelter, there is also an opportunity to take home depressed rabbits for 2 weeks to try and socialize them. I've never seen a depressed bunny, but I'm sure they are just as sweet.

As many of you know, I have dabbled in clothing creation and design for longer than I have had this blog. However, I was never truly comfortable with making alterationd until my most recent project. Here is my latest dress and I can say that I actually did some major alterations so that it would fit me better! I used test fabric that was about $4/meter but it actually turned out better than I had hoped! So, I now have a new dress for about $7. :)

PS, I chose the Kodak camera. There were a lot of bad reviews about the Nikon

the newest member of my accessories family, Le Sac. I don't know anything about this bag, I have searched for it online, but have come up empty. If you know anything about Le Sac brand, please let me know. I am really interested. I purchased it in a vintage store, but I think the store owner said it wasn't old.

We went out for Cambodian food for lunch, which is now my favourite kind of cuisine...right after Vietnamese. This is what I wore to lunch. For dinner, we went to my favourite Greek resteraunt, and I wore my newly hemmed red vintage dress. Afterwards, some friends came over for cheesecake. I am not eating again for a week...and tomorrow is the cottage party...arg.

This bag is perfect I think. It is a hard case so it doesn't collapse and squish your things, and it looks both elegant and casual.

Well, today is my birthday. I am now officially in the late part of my early 20's. I can't believe that next year I will be in the middle of my 20's! But it is time for my yearly reflection...

Isn't it strange that when you are younger you are always wishing that you were older, but when you get there, you want to stay put forever? I remember when I turned 20, it was exciting, but I couldn't believe that I was never going to be a teenager ever again. It was kind of a haunting thought, but each year on our birthdays we are reminded that we are marching slowly towards death. I find ever year on August 5th I sit down, like right now, and think a lot about my own mortality...I don't understand how everyone can be so calm all the time when you know that you are going to die someday. We just plod on with our jobs, our day-to-day and sometimes boredom knowing that each moment that has passed is gone. I think consciousness of mortality is cruel. It is a topic that is always in the back of my mind and one that I don't like to think about very often...every year I wonder, "am I making the right decisions?", "am I where I wanted to be at this age?", "am I doing what is best for my future?" "am I on the right path?"

I guess the answer is, we just don't know. So, I think that doing as much as you can, experiencing as much as you can and treating everyone with respect is the best way through life. The world is full of amazing things to be experienced, and everyone deserves to be treated equally, because we are all equal. We all end up in the same place.

I will introduce you to my amazing birthday presents soon :) Tonight for my b-day dinner, I will be wearing the shortened, thrifted red dress that I posted about earlier. And so life goes on...

I went thrifting yesterday, which is something that I haven't done in a long while! I picked up this dress for the amazing price of $2.50. The tag says, The House of Nu-Whu Toronto Canada. It is an old tag, micely stitched.

My intent is to shorten the dress by taking off the bottom ruffle, which will make it look a little more modern:

A Fresh Start

Yesterday was amazing! We all piled into the car and made the 4 hour drive to Mount Tremblant in Quebec. It is the highest ski hill in Eastern Canada. I have never been there in the summer, but it was incredible as you will see from the pictures. We bought tickets and rode up to the top in the goldola. At the top there were picturesque 360* views, and at the bottom of the hill is a village reminiscent of old Quebec City.

I am back from my sweltering week in Toronto and am really looking forward to tomorrow! A friend and I are going dt Kingston to see the Buskers, have a drink on some patios and most importantly, plan for our Greece trip this fall! Since we began planning the trip, I have run into 2 other groups of people that are doing the same thing. Seems like a pretty popular destination. We are planning on island hopping, starting in Athens then working our way through Santorini, Mykonos, Crete and maybe venture over to Turkey. I posted earlier about going to an art show called Art Amongst The Ruins. Well, while there, I saw a woman with ammonite earrings. They were spectacular! I asked her where she got them and she directed me to a store in my home town called Very Sheri. Right after the show I buzzed down there. I didn't find any earrings, but I did find the fossils themselves all cut and polished. I had to buy them and decided to try and make my own earrings out of them. Well, they were a success!

Art Amongst the Ruins

I ventured to an art show on the weekend. It was amazing! The venue was on a residential property that used to house a mill. So there were artist booths around this wooden hallow with a raging river in the background and the foundation of a stone mill. Very pretty and enchanting. I only snapped a few pics.

This stone mosaic was done by the hosts daughter.

I bought this amazing hand-blown glass. The studio is located in Kingston, so I'm going to go down and get the rest of the colours to make a set. They are quite beautiful.

I think I have done it ladies! The jig that my dad made, makes the perfect cinch-waisted skirt! I am loving it, and at 3-7$/meter of fabric, I can make some perfect-for-me skirts to make some easy-in-the-morning outfits. I will be working all next week at the Queens University convocation selling flowers (awesome) and guess what I will be wearing?...

...but a little more covered up on top. I don't normally bare this much.

So as I was saying in my last post, my dad rigged-up a jig for me so that I can make elastic waisted skirts with perfect gathers. Here is the result of the work.

Lost Then Found

Phew...I finally found my tripod. As you can see, the post before this one has a dress that I just bought. I love this dress...expecially the skirt part. I have been inspired to try and make myself more elastic waisted skirts just like this one. My dad made me a jig last night so that I can stretch the elasticband without using my hands to hold it. I can place the material on the elastic and sew without needing to hold it. All of you sewers like me might get an idea or a kick out of this contraption, it is pretty neat, I'll post pictures soon!

Finally! I have been looking for a one-piece-looks-like-2-pieces-dress-but-isn't for a long time. Uh. I really want to take it apart and make a pattern out of it....I will wear it a few times first. I got it at the clothing show yesterday.

I like it a lot. The top yellow colour is so sunny. Perfect for summer.

This one is crazy!! It is silver chain that was actually knitted!! It is done by the amazing Lissa Brunet. She makes THE most unique jewelry I've seen.

MizDragonfly is where I got my necklace on Friday. Here is another necklace I was eyeing up, but didn't buy. the chain was a little big for me. If no one buys it, I might buy it off her Etsy shop.

H&M Fashion Studio

Every time I have visited the H&M website in the past, there has been nothing. No way to look at clothing, only a store locater. But, now they have an H&M Studio where you can choose from their clothing and dress-up a model! I had fun with this last night and here are a couple things I threw together.

Running back to the Clothing Show, it is free admittance all weekend for anyone who bought a ticket. There were a pair of amber earrings I had my eye on.

The Clothing Show was held in an up and coming new GUPPIE area, Liberty Village. I was there all day and didn't make it to all of the vendors. My favourite section were the vintage, ego and sample sale sections. The vintage section was AMAZING! All the purses, clothing and shoes that any vintage lover could want! I bought a vintage leather purse which I will blog about later because I left it in my friends car.
After getting off the Go Train, I walked around the neighbourhood before going for lunch and the show. There was some unique art and buildings.

One vintage vendor had really cute tags on her shirts.

There were several fashion shows put on by the fashion designers as well. Here are a couple looks that I liked from the show.

Gaga vs. Xtina

I have been looking at Christina's latest transformation into a Gaga-esque creature with the release of her new album. I would like to point out that it is Gaga who seems to be the true orinal in her style, and other only copy her. She is the embodiment of her brand, and does not waver, even on her casual days off. She is true to herself and I think that is why she has been so popular. Because she doesn't apologize for her quirkiness and actually embrasses it. I think we all respect that because we all have our inner quirks..or as I like to call mine, my Kim-isms. Most hide them, but not her. Here is an example: on her days off, Gaga is the Gaga we see on the red carpet and in videos.

Xtina though, she turns into your regular tom-boy. I love her voice and her career, but I want the old Christina back. The glamazone.

I have been seeing Christina Aguilera in the news quite a bit lately...talking about nudity at home around her child and about her new album which is supposed to be even sexier... I don't know how you get more sexy than the Dirty video where she was wearing buttless chaps and thrashing around in water, but she will try. Does anyone else think that we are on the edge of a massive publicity stunt to come? Christina has been out of the public eye for a while now, and I think she is going to try to burst back into the light. She made an attempt with her last album and changing her look to be very Lady Gaga-esque. I don't know about anyone else, but I have always loved her old Hollywood glam days and think that no one pulls that look off better than her.

Kiln-made Coasters

I mentioned a long while ago that I had taken stained glass lessons from the ladies down the street,. They also do something call glass melting where you can fire glass and then slump it into a mold of a bowl or whatever you want. Well, my father has had a pottery kiln in the shed for longer than I have been alive, so I wanted to attempt a glass melting experiment. I decided on coasters because I think they must be the easiest thing to make. Here is how they turned out:

Evan Biddel T.O Fashion Week Expose

When I heard that Evan Biddell walked the Bustle runway in Toronto along with Jeanne Becker, I thought "awesome! I love him, I have to see those pictures." When I heard he did a crotch grab at the end of the runway, I thought laughing "oh Evan, always the standout comic" However, when I saw the photo, my laughter turned to disgust. This is not just a Michael Jackson crotch grab, this is a double handed junk thrust which was a little much for me. Call me picky, but I thought it was a little vulgar. I still love ya Biddell, but...what were you thinking? One hand just isn't enough?

A Blaze

Happy Easter everyone!

I hope you are having a good one, I know I am. I was down visiting all of my family today whom I haven't seen since Christmas. We all get together about 4 times a year, and every time it is really special.

In other news, here is a blazer I picked up on Thursday. It feels so luxurious, but the fabric is going to wrinkle like a mofo. This was my outfit right before the temperature hit 25*C that day and I had to take it off. The weather has been in the high teens and low twenties ever since, meaning I don't have anywhere to wear it. I guess I will tuck it away for the fall or a cool outdoor night party.
