Yes you read it right, designers Marc Jacobs and Nathalie Rykiel were honoured with knighthoods by France's Order of Arts and Letters. Marc is recognized as the artistic director of Louis Vuitton and Natalie as the president and creative director of the label started by her mother, Sonia Rykiel. Culture Minister Frederic Mitterrand presented the two with the honour, praising their contributions to the fashion world.
The Order of Arts and Letters is an Order of France, established in 1957. Its purpose is to recognise the contributions to the arts, literature, or the propagation of the fields.
You may be interested to know that Marc did not wear his typical kilt to the ceremony, but opted for a dark blue business suit.
Congrats to Mark- it was about time!
