New Acquisition

I went shopping today. Just doing my part to keep the Canadian economy going :) I ventured out in this -14*C weather do actually do something. I have been worrying about my money situation and bored to tears studying for the past 3 days (who has a midterm on a Saturday?) so I had to break out! I went and got a Cafe Mocha (my new favourite drink) because coffee makes me tired, but espresso is ok. Yes I have many "Kim-isms" like that. I am very fond of Winners it iseems like a new things thrift store to me because the prices are so good. So I took the bus (by my self I might add) to the nearest one. If you have on near you today is the last day of the clearance. I tried on 12 things and fell for this one! (buying one thing out of 12 is actually very good for me)I have been searching for a cardigan for a long time and finally found one that was suitable. I am not sure if it is too old or if it makes me look like a Holstein with the pattern. But with a nice bright accessory like my orange skinny belt I think it looks fab. Please ignore the underwear hanging beside me, it was laundry day yesterday. Have a great weekend!

Would You Wear This?

This is a shirt I stumbled across when looking at the ridiculous ads on the AA site. I'm not sure what to make of it. Yes I am pro gay rights but I dont think I would write it across my chest... i don't know. I think I am a more quiet person and this is for the very out spoken. Thoughts?

Waaaah!

Oh, I went to Nine West today in search of a shoe that I wanted very badly. These Dasolina's were on sale online and I was going to snap them up but sadly, the store here in Ottawa didn't have any more. I have a problem with ordering items online because I want to try them on first. But since they are not in the store to compare sizes, I won't get them.

I think they are fabulous though, very strappy and PURPLE. oh so cute. Anyway, after that let down I tottered over to ALDO to look around since I have had a 100$ gift card for there for over a year now. I have a question, how can a store whose shoes are such crap charge so much? I've bought shoes there before and they have literally fallen apart. Why does everything have to be made in China? Just seeing that label, you know that the wokers are either paid by the pair of shoes or the .10 cents per hour regular wage which is horrod. This makes the shoes worth at most $3, but they charge $80. Make sense? Not really. If dollar store items are only a DOLLAR and they are shipped all the way from China, then don't you think that the same should go for the shoes? Shipping costs are not that much. I saw a special on Nike shoes years ago and the cost of a pair was $2.85 but the shoes cost over $100. What a profit! I think it would be better to spend my gift card money on ALDO accessories instead of the shoes. I haven't had any of those fall apart yet.

New Obsession

I am constantly looking at magazines, celebrities and fashion sites and so I jump from obsession to obsession. The newest that I have completely fallen for long gold and pearl chains. Not the Gody huge links, but the more delicate ones. But I feel that scarves have kind of replaced necklaces as the neck accessory.

This scarf obsession especially goes for celebs like Nicole Ritchie and Rachel Bilson, two of my favourites. I love the funky long loose scarf look but I think chains are due for a strong come back. I am also looking for a pair for mary janes like the ones Rachel Bilson is wearing in the top picture. If you know where to find some perfect ones, let me know!

Back!

I had a bust reading week. It was supposed to be relaxing, but ended up being very busy with little down time. Anyway, I went shopping at Square One in Mississauga and got nothing! I went to H&M because I am obsessed with the store but was quite disappointed with the clothing. I've heard that some store have a "recent trends" section, but this store didn't.

Well, graduation is coming up and we all know what that means, the infamous grad photo. You don't want to look dated (like my Farrah Fawcett do for my high school grad pictures). I have short hair so there isn't too much that can be done with it. I have 1-2 months to decide. I tried to curl and add some volume to it yesterday, but it wasn't a complete success or failure. It just was. This isn't the best picture of it but it sure had volume at the back! I also finished a dress today that I had started a while ago. After putting it on I decided that it isn't a good colour or pattern for me so I'll just keep it as one of my attempts. The battery in my camera died so I will post a picture later!

Here at Last!

Ah, one day and a presentation left before a weeks hiatus. I love the February reading week, it lets me just relax. I have a few places to go, but at least none of them are school. I leave tomorrow on a train for Kingston where I will be spending the night. Then Saturday (Valentine's Day!) I drive off to Toronto to spend the weekend and "family day" with my boyfriend. Tuesday is off to my brothers for the night, Wednesday is off to Kingston for the night and then back to Ottawa where I will be skiing and going laser tagging with friends. It's no trip to Los Cabos but at least it will all be fun! I don't have the money to fly anywhere right now anyway.

Apart for too long!

I just got my favourite pair of heels re-heeled. I stepped into a crack during the summer and the bottom part of my heel came off, so that you could see the screw. Call me a late bloomer but it is the first time I have ever done that and I am thrilled with the results! it is also not as expensive as I had anticipated It was just over $30 to have both soles and heels tips redone. Inappropriate?

I was just on the American Apparel site and does anyone else find some of the pictures to be very inappropriate? I mean, I have a pretty open mind when it comes to photo shoots and advertisements, but these seem down right distasteful and perverted! The thing that really erks me is that these girls seem underage. How old are the girls in these shoots? This one below is an e-card. It is disgusting.
And this one, the picture is of a girl modelling socks. Did anyone notice that she isn't wearing any underwear? I don't care if 70's sexuality is what the brand is all about, it is sick.
Anyway, I did some research on the founder of AA, Dov Charney, and he has had several lawsuits placed against him by former employees claiming sexual harassment. He looks disgusting, his ads are disgusting, but at least he finally shaved his tell tail pedophile mustache. I didn't even want to put this sick picture on my blog. I will not buy his brand and support someone like this. Thoughts on his ads?

100th Post!

Wow, this is my 100th post. I can't believe I have done that many! I have done a few different things with this blog trying to figure out what exactly its personality is or should be. I am a lover of all aspects of fashion, I get giddy even when I'm in a fabric store. I would love to have a career in fashion where I am super busy because when I'm busy at something I like, I am very happy. I just have not figured out how to combine my business/marketing degree with my love of fashion int o something that I am qualified to do. Well, at least I haven't found that job in the job listings yet. Anywho, here is a picture taken at an even in the market here in Ottawa, she's a table!

Perfect Purse

I have been on the search for the perfect bag this season. I change my mind all the time about what I like/don't like or think should/shouldn't be in style. I hate it when I see something that I think is hideous, and then after a few exposures to the item, I end up loving it and wanting it! It is outrageous. Fringe boots however still haven't had the slightest impact on me yet. I still think they are hideous.
Back to the perfect purse! I am a huge fan of colour and huge bags, but my love affair lately has been clutches. I think they can be an amazing impact piece. This clutch is one that I purchased 2 seasons ago, but still get comments on. It is a hard bodied one with faux embossed alligator.I have loved this for a long time, but the next purse I think I would get would be a large soft and slouchy clutch purse. But, for the dreamer in me, if I had money to spare I would go for this Hermes Long Wallet...Damn, I just drooled on myself. It is amazing and flawless. Coming down to a more affordable range for me, I would like this Steve Madden bag in python. The inside is bright red! I love a hidden surprise with purses. (it is bigger and slouchy-softer than it looks)

(Steve Madden $38.95)
