I'm in Toronto again. I have been staying at the Sheradon which is why I haven't been blogging lately. You would think that for the price you have to pay here every night, that wireless internet would be free, but no it is $17 for 24 hours to have it in your room. Bogas I think. Anyway, I have had a big walk around the streets of Toronto today. I had breakfast at this little place called Jave on Augusta and Queen St W. For $4.25 you can have eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, salad and toast. It was tasty. :)

Oh, and last night, le bf came down to visit me for our date night, we have one every Thursday, usually over the phone because we live in different cities. He got here at about 7:30-8pm so we just ran across the street and grabbed some street meat, then went up to my hotel room and talked while eating Italian sausages and fries covered in Ketchup. Yummm...

Happy Halloween

I hope you all had a happy Halloween! It is probably my favourite holiday. It rivals Christmas very closely. Well, I don't know about yours but my Saturday night was full of a few firsts for me. First time I played rock band (awesome by the way), carving pumpkins with le bf, first time I met one of le bf's ex's (very nice girl), and the first time I have walked through a cemetery at night looking for white noise! I really thought it was going to be scary and I would want to run back to the car, but it was oddly calming. The only point I was a little disturbed was when le bf walked off and I heard a strange noise. Other than that, it was a successful session :) I have run the recording through a amplification program and found a few curious sounds. If I find anything worth mentioning I will let you know! I thought it would be perfect for a Halloween night.

I've Got A Lovely Bunch of Coconuts, Diddly Dee..

Well we got off the 401 at exactly 2:00am this morning. We started out for home from Jeffersonville OH at 9:30am yesterday morning. It was the longest haul I have ever done. If you have ever done it, you will know that it is extremely stressful continually scanning the sides of the road at night for deer or animals that might decide to cross the road and kill you. I did this nonstop for hours. But, one of the highlights of the drive home was stopping in Grove City PA at the outlet mall. I have a bit of an obssession with work clothes and, even though I don't have a job, I hauled a couple hundred dollars worth across the border. However, when you are at Banana Republic or Ann Taylors, you know that doesn't go too far. Still, I love every single thing I got. This dress is from Banana Republic, it is a silk blend and I just love the animal print!

oh, and my favourite holiday is tomorrow! I love Halloween! I still don't have my costume yet, le bf is coming down from Toronto and we are going to make a mad dash tomorrow and find things.

On The Long Haul

Well it has been a fun trip, but we are going to try and get home today. We are in Jeffersonville OH, which doesn't exist on the map, there are 3 hotels and 2 restaurants but the biggest outlet mall I have seen in a long time! Crazy spot for it, right in the middle of farm country. Home is 9 hours away at the moment, but we have to stop at the Fenton glass factory first in Williamstown OH, it is an amazing blown glass store. It was famous back in the day, and is worth looking up. They make some gorgeous things. I will try and take some pictures of some of the art glass and post it tomorrow. Well...it's 8:00 and we are leaving, here we go!

0 Miles to Graceland

Here I am standing on the steps of Graceland, Elvis Presley's house. He bought it when he was 22! I am 23 now and am not close to buying anything let alone a huge house and property. He only had 20 years at that house because he died 20 years later.

We visited Sun Studios, the studio where Elvis got his start. The studio also recorded musicians like Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash. This is the microphone that Elvis used while he was at the studio before his contract was sold to RCA for $35,000.

Yesterday morning we visited Ruby Falls which is an underground waterfall 260 feet within the mountain. we walked 1 mile to get there, and it was worth the whole walk!

On The Road Again

Today there wasn't any site seeing destinations, just driving. About 1 hour into our trip we started seeing signs that the interstate we were on was closed. People were still going and weren't getting off the interstate, so we kept on going too. We eventually came to a road block of cops that said there was a mountain slide at 2:00 am this morning and half the mountain had fallen onto the roads. It will be block for months! Anyway, what came out of it was a very long scenic detour through the mountains of North Carolina. It was amazing! Usually on trips we try to get from point to point as quickely as possible so we can enjoy time at the destination, but this time the nice time spent was on the winding mountian trails. It made me think that, from jumping from point to point we are focusing so much on the destination and are forgetting the journey. Sometimes it is getting there and the experiences of it are the things that last. Today, all of the focus was on the journey and there wasn't a dull moment. My 2cents for the day.

We stopped at Dunken Donuts on our way out this morning, and mom asked for one single Timbit/munchkin as she always does. Instead of just getting it on a tissue, it was given to her in a single munchkin bag! So cute! The cashier said that people ask for just one all the time.

Meeting The King

I was in Randleman today for NASCAR Days. It was great! In the morning we went to the Richard Petty car shop where he was coming to meet and greet the fans. After a while waiting around, I met him, very nice guy! He held my hand when the picture was about to be taken so I was shaking as the picture was being taken lol. A little awkward smile.

Saw Petty later on that night. He was just walking down the street towards a line up of fans that were waiting to get thigns signed. I was completely flattered that he remembered me! He looked at me, opened his arms and started talking to me while I was taking this picture:

It was a full day, 7am - 7:30pm. Also scored some free stuff along the way.

A Racecar Goes VROOM

We rolled into Concord NC at 7:30 last night plenty of time to rest up for the next days events. After a quick bite we were out to the race track bright and early for some race car driving. Last year I did a ride along and went 165MPH, this year is was my parents' turn. Mom did the ride along like me, but dad did the ride along and also drove a race car 8 laps. He went 136MPH which for us Canadians is 224KM/H.

After a day of racing we went to the shop next to the race track where they make and repair the race cars. It was closed but they were nice enough to give us a private tour. I can't believe that to build a new race car motor is 40-50,000$.

Tomorrow will be a busy day of shopping, browsing pottery and ending up in Asheville NC before taking off for Tennessee! I'm very excited for the Jack Daniels distillery and the largest underground waterfall! More photos uploaded tomorrow night.

I was off this morning at 9:30 and after hours upon hours of driving we reached West Virginia. We are gone for 10 days, I think I brought enough stuff for more than 2 weeks! Tomorrow we will be in Charlotte North Carolina. Nothing to see today, but tomorrow will be some shopping and then the race track on Thursday! Dad will be driving a race car around a NASCAR track! pretty exciting!
